Influence of Segmented Rolls on Homogeneity of Cooling in Continuous Casting

This paper deals with secondary cooling in a continuous caster. In particular, it inhomogeneity caused by spray arrangement and segmented rolls used for leading the strand. The section is placed under mold. Segmented are supported bearings several places across Sprayed water can flow gaps between where bearing pocket located. main question that was experimentally studied how this geometry influence homogeneity of cooling. Two experimental approaches developed study were applied, both full-scale geometrical configuration. first one cold test distribution observed using transparent board surface structures (rollers pockets) four spraying nozzles. second heated steel plate pockets. Cooling based on temperature rear side sample, which recorded an infrared camera.
